Inclement Weather
Just a reminder: if there is no class due to the weather, it will be put on the studio voicemail no later than 3:30 pm during the week and 7:30 am on Saturday. We will also email and post on all social media outlets. Please call the studio if you are unsure.
Dance Videos
When we email out the dance videos home to parents, it is not only so you can see the students’ progress but also as a tool to help kids practice at home. It would be very helpful if students referenced the videos at home for extra practice before they come to class each week. If you are not getting videos, please let us know immediately. We will email videos home at least once a month.
ATTENDANCE POLICY REMINDER/EMAILS
Once your child has 12 UNEXCUSED absences they will NO LONGER BE ABLE TO PERFORM IN RECITAL, regardless if you have already purchased the costume or any items associated with Recital. An excused absence is one where a doctor’s note is provided. Please submit documentation to the office or email to the studio at info@pirouettedanceacademy.com to have your attendance marked as EXCUSED. If students are absent on a regular basis, it hinders the whole class and choreography. Please note, three tardies will count as an unexcused absence. Tardies disrupt the overall productivity of the class. It is a struggle for our instructors to constantly redirect students and get others up to speed when students are habitually arriving late for class. Some routines also require partners or assistants for stunts so if everyone is not present, it would negatively impact others. If your child habitually misses class you will be required to schedule a private lesson at a cost of $25 per the instructor’s discretion. We have started emailing people who have 6 or more absences to remind them about the policy (in addition to students with 3+ tardies). If you have received one of these emails, please pay close attention to their attendance since that is already 50% of the allocated absences and we still have five months left before recital.
Fitness Subscription Program
As a reminder for the new year, we offer a Fitness subscription program. By signing up for this program you will be automatically billed the 1st of each month. Prices are as follows:

Texting
Just an FYI regarding our texting system. If you respond to a text message sent more than 30 days ago, we won’t get the contact information as to who is responding. For best results, please email the office at info@pirouettedanceacademy.com
Costumes
If your child is in Mini Movers or not in Recital please disregard the following information. When we get the costumes in, they are steamed, inspected, and put in a garment bag. The label on the garment bag has your child’s name, what class the costume is for, what color/type tights they need, what shoes they need, and what accessories are included. From there, your child will try them on in class to make sure they fit and look good. Not all costumes are in as I still have ship dates in March so do not worry if you do not get your costumes for a while. When we try them on in class, if you are concerned with the size, THAT is the ONLY time to request a size exchange for $15. Once the costumes leave the studio, I can no longer accept them back for a return. We will also determine the placement of accessories during the try on and send an email with this information. You CANNOT lose the costume or any of the pieces and the kids should NOT be playing with or trying on the costume at home. Please put it somewhere safe until picture week. Some costumes may need slight alterations so please have this done before picture week. If you lose any pieces please find a replacement or let me know ASAP and you will be required to order a new costume at $85. There is a chance the costume will NOT ship in time and if that happens, your child CANNOT participate in Recital.

New Recital Format
This information was recently emailed out but we wanted to include it in the newsletter also.
As you may have heard, we are moving to a different model for Recital this year. This decision was made in an effort to keep our shows running quickly, to minimize congestion in dressing areas/auditorium, and to minimize dancers fatigue. Going forward, we will still host two recital shows in one day; however, we will now run two different shows. Recital 2026 will take place on Saturday, June 27th at Somerset-Berkley Regional High School. Show 1 will begin at 12:00 pm and Show 2 will begin at 5:00 pm.

Most students will only be performing in one show. Some students, due to being in different levels within genres, will be performing in both shows. Some siblings are performing in separate shows due to age and/or being in different levels within genres. The dressing rooms will only be open for each show’s performers and one adult female (Example: siblings or other dancers performing only in Show 2 will not be allowed in the dressing areas during Show 1 and vice versa). Additionally, there will be an allocated amount of tickets allowed per dancer, for each show they’re performing in (Example: if your child is only performing in Show 1, you will not be given the opportunity to purchase tickets for Show 2 until they go on sale to the General Public). We are hopeful that these rules will alleviate the concerns that were brought to our attention regarding tickets and congestion in the dressing areas/facility during our last recital. We appreciate your support as we navigate this new recital format. Our recital packet will be coming out in March with all detailed information regarding ticket sales, rehearsals, recitals, etc. Stay tuned!
